“I feel
that our role in patient care really makes a pivotal difference.”
Why did you accept a job here?
I was a nursing student when I became interested in Rush. Some of the
staff nurses I met inspired me to pursue a career at Rush.
What do you do at Rush?
I collaborate with cardiovascular surgeons to manage the care of open-heart
surgical patients. I assist in managing the care of these patients from
the post-operative period until the patient is in an ambulatory setting.
What do you think about the work environment?
It is always interesting here. I feel that our role in patient care really
makes a pivotal difference. And we all do a good job covering for each
other when help is needed.
Tell us about a good day at work.
I assisted a Spanish-speaking patient who was under our care for a prolonged
period of time. I discussed a plan of care with his wife and communicated
with her on a daily basis. In the end, I helped to arrange good follow-up
care, as the family was without financial resources.
Share something your patients have told you
about Rush.
I hear that the continuity of care really makes a difference. I also hear
a lot of positive feedback from family members.
