“My focus is to ensure my patients’ needs are met, their questions are answered, and to provide the best holistic care.”
How did you first connect with Rush University
Medical Center?
I applied to Rush because of its Magnet status, excellent reputation in nursing, acceptance of diversity and support for continuing education. After my initial interview at Rush, I was really impressed with how friendly the staff was. Everyone I spoke to on the unit had only positive things to say about the work environment.
What do you do at Rush?
I begin my day by assessing my patients. My focus is to ensure their needs are met, their questions are answered, and to provide the best holistic care. I try to make sure that not only the patients are cared for, but their families as well. I try my best to allay any fears and bring a smile to their faces.
Describe the people you work with.
I work with an awesome group of people. Every person on the unit works as a team player, collaborating with each other with one focus in mind – ensuring the patients’ needs are met.
What do you think about the work environment?
It is certainly a fast-paced environment; however, I am very pleased with the environment of the unit. Even if you have a challenging assignment, you never feel alone.
What sorts of positive things do you usually hear from patients at Rush?
Patients always tell me that they are glad they came to Rush because of the dedicated care they receive. They are impressed with the knowledge of everyone they meet.
What does your future look like at Rush?
Currently, I am enrolled in the Adult Nurse Practitioner program at Rush University. I look forward to graduating and continuing to work as a Nurse Practitioner at Rush.
