Nursing Leadership – Unit Director
“There are so many resources here – it is a pleasure to work with diverse, well-educated professionals.”
How did you first connect with Rush University Medical Center?
My first connection at Rush began when I was a nursing student. Since I enjoyed my clinical experiences here, I decided to begin my nursing career here. And I’m still here.
What do you do at Rush?
As a Unit Director, each day is diverse and filled with new challenges. I am fortunate to work with a dedicated staff who deliver truly compassionate care. My day may include helping staff with their patients and families or meeting with architects to build a new unit. This year, I am working to promote staff in attaining rehabilitation nursing certification through educational programs, including e-learning.
What do you think about the work environment?
Rush is a very stimulating place to work. People bring their expertise from many different disciplines and come together for our shared goal of helping patients. There are so many resources here – it is a pleasure to work with diverse, well-educated professionals. It makes for a collegial and professional atmosphere.
Tell us about a good day at work.
It is always heartwarming when you hear patients rave – during rounds – about the care they received and the positive outcomes they’ve attained.
Share something your patients have told you about Rush.
Patients are frequently impressed with the high level of care and competence by the health care team. Patients and their families commend everyone, from nurses to physicians to therapists.
What does your future look like at Rush?
I look forward to continuing to be part of a first-rate medical center.
