“Rush promotes a teamwork environment and sets high standards for quality of care. Both are qualities I strongly believe in.”
Why did you accept a job here?
I accepted a job at Rush because of the many opportunities I knew it would open up both personally and professionally. Rush promotes a teamwork environment and sets high standards for quality of care – both are qualities I strongly believe in.
What do you do at Rush?
As a nursing assistant, I work alongside the nursing staff in providing direct patient care. On the specific floor I work on, the length of a patient’s stay can range from days to weeks. You can literally see a patient’s condition change on a day-to-day basis. Any day you see a patient who is able to do something they couldn’t do the day before and you know you had a part in their care – that is rewarding.
What do you think about the work environment?
My colleagues believe in a collaborative work environment with the end goal being a positive outcome for the patient. It is rewarding to be part of such a team. It’s a fast-paced work environment, but the teamwork atmosphere keeps it from becoming overwhelming.
What sorts of positive things do you usually hear from patients at Rush?
What I have heard most from patients is their satisfaction with the care they receive from Rush, whether it is from their doctor, nurses, or someone from food services who comes up to see how they like the food. Patients have commented on the comfort they feel when at Rush, and because of this, they come to Rush for all their major health care needs.
