“The collaborative environment encouraged by Rush’s ICARE values opens communication and invites different points of view and facets of thinking.”
How did you first connect with Rush University Medical Center?
I was first introduced to Rush as a student, then transitioned into a resident and then into a Clinical Staff Pharmacist. Towards the end of my residency training, I received other job offers but chose to stay on at Rush. Rush has a renowned reputation in the community and in the pharmacy profession. I felt there were great opportunities for professional growth, which included conducting research, speaking at conferences, organizational involvement, giving back to the community and working with a collaborative healthcare team.
What do you do at Rush?
I evaluate medication orders for appropriateness, promote medication safety, optimize medication therapy and serve as a drug information resource for patients and other health care professionals. I round daily with an interdisciplinary team and collaborate with other health care professionals to provide optimal patient care. I also guest speak at local and national conferences and mentor students.
Describe the people you work with.
The collaborative environment encouraged by Rush’s ICARE values opens communication and invites different points of view and facets of thinking. It also encourages a team approach to providing the best patient care.
What sorts of positive things do you usually hear from patients at Rush?
They are thankful that there are so many highly qualified clinicians taking care of them and making a special effort to speak one-on-one with them.
What does your future look like at Rush?
I look forward to continuing to develop my career, providing optimal patient care and utilizing research to make significant health care differences in the community.
