Why did you accept a job here?
I like being in security, and I knew that the Security department at Rush is one of the best. It’s been interesting seeing the way Rush has changed over the years.
What do you do at Rush?
I’m a Security Officer, and on the shift I work, my basic duties include ensuring that the facility is secure. I monitor cameras throughout the hospital and monitor visitor activities, as well as the campus grounds.
Describe the people you work with.
This is a very diverse department, and I find a certain camaraderie that is accompanied by a good deal of respect for each other. It’s a nice work environment.
Tell us about a good day at work.
I feel like every day is a good day. There is a feeling of pride and accomplishment when an assignment is completed, you have rectified a problem, and the people you helped have smiles on their faces.
Share something your patients have told you about Rush.
Patients I talk with tell me that they feel comfortable knowing we are around. They appreciate us being here.
What does your future look like at Rush?
I think it looks very good. I’m in school now. I’m looking forward to graduation – and giving a little additional insight to my department.
