Why did you accept a job here?
When I interviewed, I realized that what I'd experienced as a patient here was genuine. The people really were caring and compassionate. I was extremely impressed with the working relationships the mutual respect between the physicians and nurses. I was also attracted by the educational benefits offered at Rush.
What do you do at Rush?
I am a Weekender RN in the MICU. We care for critically ill patients in collaboration with numerous other disciplines. I have had the flexibility to adjust my schedule to accommodate various changes in my personal life.
What do you think about the work environment?
I like the autonomy that is maintained and promoted in my unit. It is definitely fast paced, and I like that everyone does his or her best to provide consistent patient care. Its an environment in which we respect one another and try to encourage and teach one another.
Tell us about a good day at work.
A great day is when we have an awesome display of teamwork in a really challenging case. I am inspired on a daily basis to see how the team pulls together in an instant.
Share something your patients have told you about Rush.
Patients say that they are happy to be here because of the excellent nursing care they receive. I hear often how nice and caring we are.
What does your future look like at Rush?
I foresee pursuing my graduate degree and advancing as an Advanced Practice Nurse here at Rush.
